Recently in September 2026, Professor Jeong-Dong Lee's new book was published by Oxford University Press.

• Creative Accumulation: Lessons from Korea’s Path out of the Middle Innovation Trap, Oxford University Press

The book draws on Korea's industrial development experience. It defines the "Middle Innovation Trap," which arises from an imbalance between implementation capability and concept design capability. To overcome the trap, it presents "Creative Accumulation," the accumulation of trial and error, along with a long-term national policy strategy.

The book covers the core concepts discussed in our classes in depth. It will help readers understand the achievements of Korean industry and the key tasks in building a new growth paradigm.

We especially recommend it to international students from developing countries. The book covers Korea's catch-up and its path to overcoming stagnation. We hope it offers a meaningful opportunity to review your own countries' development strategies from multiple angles.
